A Victorian silver purse or aide-memoire, the oblong form with scalloped edge, the front engraved with a scene of two herons, one in flight, the second wading through shallow water, the reverse engraved with a further exotic birds amongst ferns and foliage, opening to a material compartmentalised interior with central ivorine days of the week note pad. Hallmarked Birmingham 1876 with the maker’s mark D&M. Height measuring 4 inches (10 cm).

In good overall condition. The lot displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Engine turned pencil holder in the closing of the central days of the week pad is likely not to be original. Minor dints. Hallmarks are clear and legible.
