Lot Description

A large George III silver open salt of compressed circular form, having a foliate, shell and gadroon rim above a similarly decorated body and three paw feet, with engraved crest depicting three arrows spearing a fish. Hallmarked Joseph Craddock & William Ker Reid, London 1817. Maximum diameter measures 4 inches (10 cm), weight 5.87 ozt (182.4 grams).

The salt appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some minor dints and bumps. The hallmarks are clear and legible but the maker's mark is partly worn. Also with crudely stippled initials 'V K M'.
