Lot Description

An American silver comport, having a shaped and scrolled rim and ornately embossed with floral sprays and foliate motifs, bordering an engraved monogram to the centre, raised on a similarly decorated circular spread foot. Impressed sterling with pictorial maker's mark for Gorham. Maximum diameter measures 9 inches (23 cm), weight 17.98 ozt (559 grams).

The dish displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use. Heavy tarnishing is visible throughout and it would benefit from a clean and polish. Slight impression from the foot showing as a ring mark around the monogram. Some minor dints and nicks. The maker's marks etc are clear and legible.
