Lot Description

A late Victorian silver mounted cut glass claret jug, the ovoid form cut with diamond and flower motifs and rising to plain silver collar with flat hinged lid and loop handle. Hallmarked Horace Woodward & Co (Edgar Finley & Hugh Taylor), London 1892. Maximum height measures 7 7/8 inches (20 cm).

The jug appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear, surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Tarnishing to the silver mounts. Hinged lid appears in good working order. Some heavier marks and nicks around the silver rim and a slight seam split. Various edge chips and nibbles to the glass and heavier contact marks to base. The hallmarks are clear and legible, also clear part hallmarks to lid.
