A mid-Victorian small silver mug, decorated in relief to the front with a spaniel seated on a fringed and tasselled cushion with a parrot in front, all within a floral scroll surround and having a vacant cartouche to reverse, with scrolled handle and footed base. Hallmarked James Charles Edington, London 1867. Height including handle measures 3 5/8 inches (9.2 cm), weight 4.86 ozt (151.3 grams).

The mug appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing in keeping with the age and use. Some rubbing and slight loss of surface detail to areas of high relief, but the decoration is generally good. The hallmarks and maker's marks appear slightly rubbed but are still clearly legible. Also with pattern number 3714.
