Lot Description

A mid-Victorian silver combination vinaigrette and scent bottle, modelled as a hunting horn, the hinged cover opening to reveal a pierced silver-gilt grille engraved S. Mordan & Co., leading into the tapering end having a screw thread cover revealing the concealed scent bottle. Hallmarked Sampson Mordan & Co., London 1877. Length measures 8.5 cm, weight 34 grams.

The Sampson Mordan example appears in overall fair condition displaying general light rubbing the to exterior commensurate with age and use with slight loss to exterior gilding, the hinge is in good condition and interior gilding with wear to edges but still in good condition, hallmarks to exterior are worn but partly legible, hallmarks to interior are clear.
