Lot Description

A Victorian silver mounted nutmeg grater modelled in the form of a walnut with realistic detail, central hinge opening to reveal the metal grate. Hallmarked London 1886 with maker's mark 'J.B', possibly Jane Brownett. Height measures 4.4 cm, gross weight 38 grams.

The grater appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying general wear, tarnishing and some surface marks and scratches. Hinge and clasp appear in good working order. Heavier tarnishing to metal grate.  Hallmarks are mostly legible, lion passant is partly worn. Also clear part hallmarks to interior of lid.
