An African tribal carved softwood mask
Possibly Punu, Gabon
Modelled with top-knot and unusual hatch-carved ‘ears’ over an textured oval face with prominent central ridge, pierced narrow eyes with raised red-stained borders, parallel channels through the cheeks, and open mouth with prominent red-stained lips, the skin with textured yellow-stained finish, 14.5”, (37cm) high.
