Lot 720

Lot Description

A good quality replica Harrison-type skeleton 'sea' clock.
With 4-inch white Roman chapter ring framing exposed wheelwork, beneath conforming seconds crescent, the five-pillar wire-driven single-fusee timepiece movement with grasshopper escapement, flanked by twin 'barbell' pendulums, the plates of typical scroll form, unsigned, 12", (30.5cm) high to top of frame, 14.5" (37 cm) high to top of barbells, raised on an ebonised base with milled bun feet, enclosed in a brass-framed five-glass case with front door, overall height 17.25", (44.5cm).

Some discrepancies to blacking of dials including variation in numbers and in character of minute track. Allied to finish of brass frame this suggests a late copy, not by Sinclair Harding (perhaps a kit?). Otherwise structurally sound and in nice condition.
