An early 19th century oak and mahogany-cased 8-day brass dial longcase clock
Simeon Shole, Deptford, circa 1825
The 13-inch circular brass dial with Roman hours, Arabic minutes and lobed 'Dutch' minute band framing subsidiary seconds dial over finely engraved foliate scrollwork and inscribed maker's cartouche "Sim. Shole Deptford" in blackletter, the four-pillar movement rack-striking on a bell, the mahogany-crossbanded oak case with decorated broken pediment over bulging Corinthian columns, fluted quadrants, long trunk door and inlaid base on ogee bracket feet, 87", (221cm) high.

Dial has tarnishing to chapter ring, movement appear original and in sound structural condition, case has later finials and pedestal beneath finials may also be replacement, minor crack to left side of caddy top, trunk in good order but base has been reduced in depth.
