Lot Description

A mid-Victorian silver trophy cup, having foliate engraving framing dual cartouches each with later presentation engraving, raised upon a knopped stem to a spreading foot and further circular wooden stand. Hallmarked Elkington & Co., London 1876. Height inclusive of stand measures 10 2/8 inches (26 cm), sliver weight 8.97 ozt (279.1 grams).

'The Elkington Trophy Cup, Dudley Port Excelsior 1903' and 'Selly Oak & Bournebrook Flower Study Brass Band Contest Aug. 4th 1903, Kettering Midland 1904'.

The cup appears in overall fair condition displaying heavy wear to interior and general tarnishing throughout. Minor rubbing to surface and few scratches and dints. Maker's mark is partly worn but hallmarks are clear and legible. The stand has general light wear to edges and knocks.
