Lot Description
A late Victorian silver card case, the oblong curved form with shaped initialled cartouche amidst scroll decoration, hallmarked Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1897, length measures 3 2/8 inches (8.5 cm). Together with an Edwardian silver card case with engine-turned and foliate decoration surrounding an engraved monogram, the hinged form opening to reveal a concertina lined interior, hallmarked Charles Lyster & Son, Birmingham 1908, length measures 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm). Gross weight 4.2 ozt (131.2 grams). (2).

Condition Report
In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Victorian card case is engraved with initials, some minor loss of definition to the decoration and edges. The Edwardian card case does not shut fully flush, slight gap between silver, clasp locks but not firmly, minor dents and bumps to the case. Some splits and tears to the concertina lined interior, has holders for 12 cards. Hallmarks clear and legible, some minor rubbing to maker's marks.
