Lot Description

An early Victorian silver sugar shovel, of Fiddle pattern with crested terminal, hallmarked James Beebe, London 1845, length measuring 5 3/8 inches (13.7 cm). Together with a 1920's silver spoon, the circular bowl leading to a terminal with zoomorphic finial, hallmarked Martin Hall & Co Ltd., Sheffield 1928. Gross weight 2 ozt (63.7 grams). (2).

In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The shovel is engraved with a rampant lion crest to the terminal, some minor wear to the shovel bowl and some loss of definition to the heel. The stem of the 1920's spoon appears slightly off centre. Hallmarks clear and legible.
