A 1920's small silver cream jug, the bowl modelled as a Nautilus shell with textured finish and small head in low relief beneath the lip, leading to a zoomorphic handle, raised upon a crouched animal on an oval base, contained in a Garrard retailer's box with accompanying note and illustration. Hallmarked Garrard & Co Ltd., London 1928. Maximum height measuring 3 5/8 inches (9.3 cm), weight 4.6 ozt (143.6 grams).

Condition Report
In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Contained in a Garrard's retailer's box which has two stickers to the top which may leave some residue when removed. The accompanying note states 'This cream jug was made by Sebastian Garrard for R&S Garrard & Co in 1928. The design appears in the Robert Garrard (II) pattern book and was a favourite of all the Garrards. It is based on an unmarked French cream jug of c1720 and other examples do exist by Huguenot makers, notably David Willaume.' The illustration shows a sketch of the cream jug. Hallmarks clear and legible.
