Lot 170

Lot Description

A late Victorian part set of five silver teaspoons, each with an Apostle terminal, together with a similar plated example, in an unassociated case, hallmarked William Hutton & Sons (Edward Hutton), London, two dated 1884, three dated 1886. Together with a cased set of six Edwardian silver teaspoons and a pair of sugar tongs, each with a tapered fluted terminal, hallmarked Sheffield 1907, plus a cased set of six 1930's silver handled butter knives with stainless steel blades, Sheffield 1935. Gross weighable silver 4.9 ozt (153.2 grams).

In overall good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some of the bowls on the Victorian set are slightly off centre from the stems, the case has space for six spoons and a pair of sugar tongs but they don't fit properly into these so the case is unassociated. The Edwardian cased set has some heavier tarnishing to the back of the bowls and slight dents to the tips. The cases are quite worn and scuffed. Majority of hallmarks clear and legible.
