Condition Report
In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The three condiment spoons are hallmarked Adie Brothers Ltd., Birmingham, two salt spoons dated 1935, one mustard spoon dated 1936, the gilding to their interior bowls appears dull. The open salts and mustard pots have silver-gilt interiors, further marked 'Mappin & Webb Ltd' beneath the bases. The peppers are further marked 'Mappin & Webb' beneath the base, remnants of pepper to the interiors, one has a replacement lid dated 1975. The cruet set comes with the retailer's box and purchase receipt for 'Barbara Cattle, Goldsmiths Jewellers & Silversmiths, Stonegate York'. The fitted case for the butter knives shuts securely with some minor scuffs to the corners and base. The stainless steel knife in the christening set is likely to be a later replacement as it does not sit well in the fitted case. Majority of hallmarks clear and legible.
