Lot Description

A late nineteenth/early twentieth century Russian silver coffee spoon, with a spiral twist stem and cloisonné decoration to the reverse of the ovoid shape bowl, marked with the first kokoshnik mark alongside a possible maker's mark, length measuring 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm). Together with an Austro-Hungarian silver spoon, the gilt bowl leading to a cold enamelled stem and ball finial with stylised flower motifs, marked 800 alongside the Dog head standard mark for Vienna and possible maker's mark 'G.A.S'. Gross weight 1.3 ozt (42.7 grams). (2).

In overall good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The first kokoshnik mark possibly for Anatoli Apollonovich Artsybashev, alongside a possible maker's mark AH? or Cyrillic letters AR?. Some losses to the cold enamel decoration on the Austro-Hungarian, particularly to the ball finial. Marks partly rubbed/obscured but generally legible.
