Lot Description

A George III silver basting spoon, of Old English pattern with initial engraved terminal. Hallmarked Peter & William Bateman, London 1814. Length measuring 11 6/8 inches (30 cm), weight 3.8 ozt (119.4 grams).

In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The bowl has noticeable scratches and areas of pitting with wear to the tip which is slightly thinner to one side. The terminal is engraved 'Mc G'. Some minor loss of definition to the heel. Maker's maker rubbed and worn but still just legible, other hallmarks clear.
