Lot Description

An Oriental triple scent phial of dual hinged folding form, each rectangular phial with screw thread removable lid and attached dabber (one missing), with three engraved sides depicting bamboo shoots, peonies and chrysanthemums, the other three with a vacant panel surrounded by floral sprigs. Marked with indistinct character marks beneath the bases. Width when extended 2 2/8 inches (5.7 cm), gross weight 2.2 ozt (69.9 grams).

In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. One of the hinges does not allow the end phial to fold in completely and appears out of line. One of the lids is missing its attached dabber, the two which are present appear slightly mis-shaped. Minor compression around the screw thread on one of the end phials. The indistinct character marks are worn and distorted.
