Lot Description

An early Victorian silver visiting card case, of oblong form with scalloped edge and cross hatch decoration surrounding a floral mounted vacant cartouche. Hallmarked Birmingham 1854, maker's mark slightly distorted probably Thomas Dones, height measuring 3 6/8 inches (9.5 cm). Together with an Edwardian folding silver fruit knife with engraved mother-of-pearl handle and initialled cartouche, hallmarked Sheffield 1903. Gross weighable silver 1.8 ozt (56.4 grams). (2).

In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor loss of definition to the edges of the case, with a small visible hole to the silver. The fruit knife has a silver blade which is heavily tarnished along the top edge, the folding action is in good working order, the cartouche on the handle is engraved with the initials 'WAW'?. Maker's mark on the case is slightly distorted probably Thomas Dones, other hallmarks clear and legible. This lot may have export issues, for customers outside of the EU, please note that it is the buyers responsibility to adhere to any import/export requirements.
