Lot Description

A George IV silver vinaigrette, the oblong hinged form with an initialled cartouche to the cover within a zigzag border, opening to reveal a silver-gilt interior with foliate engraved pierced grille. Hallmarked Thomas Newbold, Birmingham 1822. Width measures 3 cm, weight 8.3 grams.

In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor bumps and dents to the body. The hinge appears slightly out of alignment on the left. Minor compression to the interior of the base of the floral cartouche. A sponge is present. Hallmarks slightly rubbed and worn but still legible.
