Lot Description

A white metal nutmeg grater, of ovoid form with engraved stars to the opposing ends and a central band of zigzag foliate patterns, opening to reveal a removable metal grater, appears unmarked, length measures 4.5 cm. Together with a small white metal filigree box, of square hinged form, appears unmarked. (2).

In fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The larger half of the nutmeg grater has significant bumps and dents, with tarnish stains to both halves, the smaller half has some numbers in black pen to the interior, the removable grater is significantly rusted, all pieces appear unmarked. Remnants of polish in between the filigree decoration, the hinged cover does not shut securely, also appears unmarked.
