Lot Description
A late Victorian silver mounted inkwell, the stepped square base with bead borders and central recess holding a cut glass ink pot having square hinged lid with conforming bead rim. Hallmarked Walker & Hall, Sheffield 1900. Base measures 4 7/8 inches (12.5 cm) square, height including ink pot measures 4 3/4 inches (12 cm).

Condition Report
Inkwell displays general wear, surface marks and scratches and some tarnishing to the silver parts. Knocks to the corner edges of the base, also some minor surface dints and heavier scratches and contact marks to the underside. Further minor nicks or dints to the stepped edges and corners. Hinged lid appears in working order with some slight sideways movement. Corners a little rounded. Some edge chips and nibbles to the glass. Hallmarks to base clear and legible, further impressed with maker's name to the underside. Also hallmarked to both parts of lid mount, some slight rubbing to maker's marks but all still clearly legible.
