Lot Description

An Edwardian silver twin-handled sugar bowl, of bellied form with applied shell rim border leading to two leaf capped scroll handles, the lower body with embossed floral decoration and scalework surrounding twin opposed cartouche, the whole raised upon four stylised feet. Hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., Sheffield 1905. Maximum width measures 8 1/8 inches (20.8 cm), weight 14.1 ozt (439.1 grams).

In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. No personal engravings to the cartouches. Some minor loss of definition to the embossed decoration and scalework. Construction line visible to the base. Hallmarks clear and legible, further marked 'Mappin & Webb London' beneath the base.
