Lot Description

A George II silver sparrow beak cream jug, the typical baluster form to a footed base, crest engraved and having a simple scroll handle. Hallmarked William Coles, London 1739. Height measuring 2 7/8 inches (7.5 cm), weight 2.04 ozt (63.5 grams).

The cream jug displays some quite heavy surface wear and tarnishing. Numerous surface marks, scratches and nicks. Also some surface dints and bumps and knock to foot rim. Impressions from the handle joins visible to the interior, and also impressions from the foot. Hallmarks are a little rubbed and slightly distorted but still legible. Also with crudely engraved initials 'E G'.
