In varied state, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The push release of the Smith & Barlam example is present but not attached so the case does not shut securely, requires attention, one interior elastic band present which is also not attached, it is engraved to the interior 'To Wish you :- For The Present - Happiness For the Future - Life's Best.' and 'Cyril A. E. Hargell' to the other side. The other 1930's example is engraved 'A L R?' to the cartouche, with minor loss of definition to the engine-turned decoration in patches. The 1940's example has a flat/squashed top with a significant split along the top and bottom edges, the case does not securely shut. Each would benefit from a clean and polish.
