Lot Description

A George III silver box, the circular form scroll engraved and the removable lid embossed with a cherub head, further scrolls and swag motif. Hallmarked London 1799 with maker's mark HM. Rim diameter measuring 4 cm, weight 34 grams.

The box displays some tarnishing and general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. A few minor dints and edge knocks. Heavier wear around the base rim. Some rubbing and wear to decoration. Hallmarks located to the underside are a little rubbed but still legible. The lid appears to be a good fit and bears a matching maker's mark to reverse.
