Lot Description

A late George III silver soup ladle, in Fiddle pattern with engraved monogram to terminal, hallmarked Solomon Hougham, Solomon Royes & John East Dix, London 1817, length measuring 13 inches (33 cm). Together with a William IV silver sauce ladle in Hourglass pattern with shell terminal and shell heel, hallmarked London 1832 with George IV Duty mark, maker William Chawner II or William Collins, length measuring 7 1/8 inches (18 cm). Weight 10.77 ozt (335 grams). (2).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both ladles appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying expected surface wear, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. The soup ladle is more heavily marked and scratched, especially to the interior of the bowl. On the sauce ladle, there are file marks to bowl reverse just below the heel. The metal of both bowls feels a little thinner around areas of the edge but they have generally faired well. Hallmarks to both are clear and legible.
