Lot Description

A George IV silver part canteen in Fiddle pattern, comprising eighteen table forks, six dessert spoons and two table spoons, all crest engraved, to front terminals of spoons and reverse terminals of forks. Hallmarked William Chawner II, London 1824. Weight 60.14 ozt (1871 grams).

All the pieces appear in a tarnished state with elastic band marks to some stems. All displaying general surface wear, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Some heavier wear to tips of fork tines but overall they have faired well. Spoon bowls also appear in generally good condition. Some loss of surface detail to crests. There is some rubbing but hallmarks are mostly clear and legible.
