Lot Description

A George IV silver teapot, the compressed circular form embossed and chased throughout with floral and foliate borders and twin opposed scrolled cartouche, the domed, hinged lid with flower finial and the whole raised on four similarly decorated paw feet. Hallmarked George Hunter II, London 1828. Maximum length measuring 11 inches (28 cm), gross weight 24.76 ozt (770 grams).

The teapot is heavily tarnished throughout and would benefit form a clean and polish. Displaying surface wear, marks and scratches. Some damage around the tip of the spout with a small loss. Hinges to lid appear in good working order with slight sideways movement. Handle is very loose and requires some attention. One cartouche with remnants of an engraving, either very worn or removal attempted. Probably ivory insulators, very worn and crazed. Hallmarks clear and legible, including part hallmarks to handle and lid.
