Lot Description
A mid-Victorian silver open salt, of triangular shaped form with embossed satyr masks and egg and dart pattern, the whole raised upon three ball feet, hallmarked C F, Sheffield 1870, diameter measures 3 3/8 inches (8.5 cm). Together with an Edwardian silver lidded vanity jar, of circular form with textured glass body and star-cut base, the silver screw top lid with planished surface and embossed floral spray surrounding an oval cartouche, hallmarked Drew & Sons (Samuel Summers Drew & Ernest Drew). Weight of salt 1.5 ozt (47.7 grams). (2).

Condition Report
In overall good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The open salt has minor loss of definition and some small holes to the embossed decoration, the ball feet are slightly dented, heavier tarnishing to the edges of the interior of the salt and beneath the base. The silver lid of the vanity jar is lined with cork to the interior which is held in place with a silver disc with the lion passant and maker's mark for Drew & Sons (Samuel Summers Drew & Ernest Drew), further marked 'Drew & Co Leadenhall St', the screw top shuts fully flush and securely, the vacant cartouche has a minor dent, the planished surface has minor loss of definition to the top, with heavier tarnishing around the edges, minor nibbles to the star-cut base. Maker's mark rubbed to the vanity jar, other hallmarks clear and legible.
