Lot Description
A modern silver mounted table cigarette box, of rectangular form with engine-turned and reeded decoration to the hinged lid, opening to reveal a wood lined interior with applied silver plaque with engraved presentation inscription, the whole raised upon four corner feet. Hallmarked Birmingham 1970, maker's mark obscured. Width measuring 8 6/8 inches (22.5 cm).

Condition Report
In overall fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The lid does not shut fully flush. Minor dents and bumps to the front edge and lid. The silver plaque has been applied crudely to the interior of the lid, with visible hardened glue residue around the edge, the plaque is engraved 'GUY BRADY Chairman, London Central Board, 1971 Presented in appreciation by Sir Alex McDonald Chairman, The Distillers Company Ltd.' The plaque is hallmarked London 1971. The box would benefit from a clean and polish. Maker's mark obscured, other hallmarks clear and legible, partial hallmarks to various sections.
