Lot Description

A matched pair of Edwardian silver mounted glug-glug decanters, each of waisted wrythen form with plain silver collar and clear glass stopper of conforming style. Hallmarked John Grinsell & Sons, Birmingham 1908 and 1909. Height measuring 9 2/8 inches (23.7 cm).

In fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. One of the decanters has a piece of metal inside which appears to be reinforcing the collar, this piece means the glass stopper does not sit properly and appears higher than the other. The glass bodies have a cloudy appearance with minor nibbles. Hallmarks clear and legible, further marked 17075A.
