Lot Description

A selection of items to include an Edwardian imported silver tea strainer of Arts and Craft style, the bowl with simple drilled holes and shaped rim with sinuous shapes, hallmarked London 1902, maker's mark partly obscured, alongside the Foreign mark, length measuring 6 6/8 inches (17.5 cm). Together with an Edwardian silver mounted salt mill, hallmarked London 1907, a pair of Edwardian silver open salts with two 1940's silver spoons, an Edwardian silver mustard pot with blue glass liner, a 1920's silver pepper pot with blue glass liner, a German silver napkin ring with monogrammed cartouche, a further napkin ring and a modern silver bud vase. Gross weighable silver 6.3 ozt (198.6 grams).

In varied state, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The tea strainer has a significant repair to the back of the handle where the metal appears discoloured and pitted, this has caused loss of definition to the decoration, it also has several holes and splits to the bowl and shaped rim. The body of the salt mill is hallmarked London 1907, no maker's mark visible, the lid is hallmarked Joseph Braham, London 1908, the grinder component appears rusted, the removable lid does not shut securely and does not open properly. The open salts are further marked Rd 295543?. The base of the pepper pot is creased and does not lie flat, its lid appears unmarked. The lip of the bud vase is significant creased and dented and it has a filled base. The further napkin ring is marked 'Sterling silver'. Majority of hallmarks clear and legible.
