Lot Description

A pair of George III silver tablespoons, of Old English pattern with crested terminal, hallmarked Christopher & Thomas Wilkes Barker, London 1801, length measuring 8 3/8 inches (21.5 cm). Together with a pair of George III silver tablespoons, of double struck Hour glass pattern, hallmarked Richard Turner, London 1816, plus two pairs of matched George III silver tablespoons, each of Old English pattern with crested terminals, hallmarked Richard Crossley, London 1801 & 1813 and William Eley & William Fearn, London 1798 & 1806. Gross weight 19.6 ozt (611.8 grams).

In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some minor wear around the edges and tips of the bowls and to the heels verso. Minor loss of definition to the engraved crests. The Hour glass pattern spoons appear to have had engravings removed from the terminals with loss of definition and flatness to the pattern decoration. Hallmarks clear and legible.
