Lot Description

A late Victorian silver bowl, of circular lobed and fluted form with serpentine rim, hallmarked Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1900, diameter measuring 4 6/8 inches (12.3 cm). Together with a 1920's silver sauce boat on matching stand, each of elongated quatrefoil form with beaded rim, the sauce boat with curved twin handles and raised upon an oval pedestal base, hallmarked Barker Brothers (Herbert Edward Barker & Frank Ernest Barker), Chester 1920. Gross weight 10.4 ozt (325 grams).

In overall fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Visible signs of repair to the joins of the handles on the sauce boat, the fluids of solder have caused loss of definition to the decoration. The sauce boat does not stand flat and wobbles. Majority of hallmarks clear and legible, the sauce boat stand is further marked 'C&K. Calcutta'.
