Lot Description
A modern silver mounted decanter set, including an oblong cut-glass decanter with silver collar and cut-glass stopper and a pair of cut-glass brandy glasses raised upon a circular silver base, contained in a fitted case, hallmarked S J Rose & Son, Birmingham 1984, height of decanter measures 9 7/8 inches (25.3 cm). Together with a cased set of plated fish knives for twelve place settings, each with a carved ivory handle, engraved Greek-key patterns to the blades and initials to the ferrules, a cased plated sugar bowl and cream jug and a Royal Mint 1996 Silver Anniversary coin collection. Condition Report
In varied state, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The glass stopper for the decanter is significantly chipped to the neck, the fitted case has significant losses and sticky residue to the top and bottom and it is very difficult to open, hallmarks clear and legible. The fish eaters are each engraved 'W.H' to the ferrules, they are contained in a fitted wooden case with removable tray and cartouche to the top with the initials 'W.H', it has a key lock function but no key present and a piece missing to the wood on the top corner. The sugar bowl and cream jug are marked EPNS. The Royal Mint 1996 Silver Anniversary coin collection is within a plastic sleeve within a material box, comes with certificate of authenticity No. 03190.
