In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The silver example is engraved 'Presented To H.H. Monckton ESQ.re on the occasion of his marriage by the members of the B'ham Amateur Opera Society Sept 8th 1904'. The leather cover has some wear and losses around the edges, the hinged lid has a cork lined interior, the bayonet lock shuts securely but lid rotates itself making it difficult to open, hallmarks slightly rubbed but still legible. The plated example has lost half of its faux leather cover to one side, exposing the lining, its hinged lid is loose around the collar.
