Lot Description

An eighteenth century Dutch silver miniature tea caddy, mark of Willem van Strant (Amsterdam, active 1727-1742), the rectangular form decorated to each side with chinoiserie figures standing in gardens with blossom trees, the lid decorated with a flower-head motif, maker's mark to base alongside Amsterdam town mark, height measuring 4.8 cm; together with a similarly matched nineteenth century example, marked to base with a crowned O alongside a further indistinct mark. Weight 55.4 grams.
