Lot Description

A pair of late eighteenth or early nineteenth century Dutch silver miniature candlesticks, mark of Hendrik Duller (Amsterdam, active 1776-1811), each with square base rising to a conforming shape column and socket and engraved with swag motifs. Maker's mark to base, alongside Amsterdam town mark and a boar's head tax mark. Height measuring 5 cm, weight 28.7 grams.

In overall fair to good condition, both candlesticks displaying some tarnishing and some expected surface wear, marks, scratches and minor nicks.  As can be seen in the photograph when the pair are standing together, one of the candlesticks does lean slightly to one side, indicating a possible repair at the join of base of the column to the ball knop below. All assay marks are located to the underside, some rubbing and distortion but still legible.
