Lot Description

A George III silver counter box and cover, the circular form with stipple punched borders enclosing a vacant shield cartouche to the lid. Hallmarked to base Birmingham 1802 with maker's mark 'IT' in an oblong punch, and further maker's mark only to lid. Diameter measuring 2.4 cm, weight 5.5 grams.

Considering the age the box appears in good overall condition, displaying some spots of tarnishing and general surface wear, marks, scratches and nicks consistent with age. Slight nick to the rim of the lid just below the seam. Parts fit together well. Hallmarks with some rubbing but all still clearly legible.
