Lot Description

A George III silver patch or counter box and cover, the circular form with stipple punched borders surrounding a monogram engraving to the lid, hallmarked Joseph Willmore, Birmingham 1819, diameter measuring 2.8 cm; together with a smaller example having reeded decoration, appears unmarked, diameter measuring 2.1 cm. Gross weight 8.8 grams. (2).

Both boxes displaying some tarnishing and surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. Both with heavier tarnishing, staining and residue to the interiors. The George III box with many little surface nicks and some minor dints. Visible seam to flange of lid. Wear to engraved monogram. Hallmarks are a little rubbed but in good condition given the age. Lids and bases on both boxes fit well together.
