Lot Description
A French snuff box, of rounded oblong form with Niello decoration throughout, the inset hinged lid depicting a lady being carried on a gentleman's back as they cross a river accompanied by a dog, opening to reveal a gilt interior. Marked with a possible boar guarantee mark alongside a partly distorted maker's mark, probably François-Desire Froment-Meurice (Paris). Width measuring 6.5 cm, weight 59.8 grams.
