An eighteenth century nutmeg grater, the plain ovoid form with screw thread opening to reveal a metal rasp. Maker's mark only 'DF', possibly David Field (circa 1743 - 1748). Length measuring 3.8 cm.

Condition Report
The grater displays tarnishing and general surface wear, marks and scratches throughout and commensurate with age and use. Numerous surface dints and bumps visible to the interior and exterior. Possible repairs? Marked only to the interior of the lid with the maker's mark and there are some cracks, creases and tiny holes appearing around the mark. Some rust visible to the metal grater. The screw thread appears in good condition and the three parts fit well together.
