An Edwardian silver presentation trowel, the blade with engraved foliate motifs surrounding a presentation inscription, leading to a moulded ivory handle with carved terminal, contained within a fitted case. Hallmarked Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham 1902. Length measuring 13 1/8 inches (33.4 cm).

Condition Report
In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The inscription reads 'This trowel was used by the Rt. Rev. H. V. Marshall DD, Bishop of Salford, when he blessed and laid the foundation stone of St Margaret Mary's Church New Moston 16th October 1954'. The fitted case does not shut securely with heavier wear to the lid. Hallmarks clear and legible.
