Lot Description

An early Victorian silver teapot, of plain circular slightly tapered form with engraved crest and curved foliate capped handle with ivory insulators, the hinged lid with applied flower moulded finial, raised upon four foliate mounted scroll feet. Hallmarked John Angell II & George Angell, London 1848. Height inclusive of finial measures 6 5/8 inches (17 cm). Gross weight 21.9 ozt (683.5 grams).

In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The engraved crest is slightly rubbed and worn. The fixture pins on the handle stick out, the bottom join around the ivory insulator is slightly out of line. The hinged lid is slightly loose with some sideways movement. Hallmarks clear and legible, partial hallmarks to various sections.
