Lot Description

A late Victorian silver mounted table cigarette box, of rectangular form with engraved monogram to the hinged lid, opening to reveal a wood lined interior, hallmarked Wright & Davies (William Thomas Wright & Frederick Davies), London 1884, width measuring 7 inches (17.8 cm). Together with a 1930's silver mounted table cigarette box, of rectangular form with engine-turned decoration, opening to reveal a wood lined interior with three compartments, hallmarked London 1934, maker's mark partly distorted probably Padgett & Braham Ltd. (2).

In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The Victorian example has solder repairs along the rim of the base and corners. Hallmarks rubbed but still just legible, further marked 'H. Lewis. 172 New Bond Street W.' underneath the hinge.
