A late Victorian silver and gold garnet and diamond brooch.

Lot Description
A late Victorian silver and gold garnet and diamond brooch. The heart-shape garnet cabochon locket, enclosing a lock of hair, with rose-cut diamond surround, suspended from a silver similarly-cut diamond bow surmount. Length 3.1cms. Weight 8.1gms.

<li>Overall condition good to fair. Some surface scratches/wear and small dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Glue can be seen to one diamond.
<li>Some possible gem replacement.
<li>Diamonds well matched and bright.<p>
<li>Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight, colour or clarity estimation.
<li>Diamonds appear clean with few minor inclusions noticeable under 10x magnification.
<li>One diamonds appear to have a yellow tint due to the glue.
<li>Garnet is a slightly purplish red hue, well saturated, with good clarity.
<li>Garnet in good condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the surface.<p>
<li>Estimated dimensions of garnet 14 by 13.2mms. Unable to assess depth due to setting.
<li>Glazed panel in fair condition with stripe marks, appears cloudy.
<li>Frame around the glazed panel with jagged edge.
<li>Stamped sil to surmount.
<li>Width (at widest) mms.
