Lot Description
A late Victorian 18ct gold garnet and diamond three-stone ring. The replacement rectangular-shape garnet, with old-cut diamond sides, rose-cut diamond spacers and trefoil shoulders. Estimated dimensions of garnet 9 by 7.5 by 3.9mms. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 1.60cts, I-J colour, VS2-SI2 clarity. Ring size Q. Weight 3.6gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Some replacement gems.
<li>Significant discolouration across the entire ring.
<li>Some small file marks to the band.
<li>Some claws show moderate wear.
<li>Diamonds well matched.
<li>Diamonds bright.<p>
<li>One old-cut diamond with small, central dark inclusions, and a small feather to one side. Other old-cut diamond with few minor inclusions, possible small feather beneath one claw.
<li>Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate weight estimation and colour and clarity assessment.<p>
<li>Garnet is a deep slightly orangey red hue, well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.<p>
<li>Garnet in good condition with some small nicks.<p>
<li>Metal tests as approximately 18ct gold.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
