Lot Description

A late Victorian silver sandwich box, the plain rectangular form engraved with a monogram above 1897 to one corner of the double hinged cover. Hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1897. Length 5 1/4 inches (13.3 cm), weight 9.03 ozt (281 grams).

Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general tarnishing and expected surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.

Slightly heavier wear around edges and corners and very slight compression to centre of lid.

All hinges appear in good working order so it can open out and lie flat.

Interior likely once gilded but now faded.

Each section hallmarked, all clear and legible.
